"Welcome to the Transitional Year Residency Program at San Antonio Regional Hospital.
Choosing a Transitional Year is an exciting step in your medical journey. This unique year serves as a bridge between medical school and advanced specialty training, providing the broad clinical foundation, professional growth, and confidence needed to succeed in any field of medicine.
At San Antonio Regional Hospital, we are committed to creating an educational environment that is supportive, challenging, and centered on the development of well-rounded physicians. Our curriculum offers diverse experiences across multiple specialties, allowing residents to strengthen their clinical skills, develop sound medical judgment, and gain exposure to a wide variety of patient populations and healthcare settings.
What makes our program special is our people. We believe that excellent physicians are developed through mentorship, collaboration, and meaningful clinical experiences. Our faculty are dedicated educators who are invested in your success, both professionally and personally. We strive to foster a culture where residents feel supported, valued, and empowered to grow.
As a physician originally from Brazil, I understand the challenges and excitement that come with each stage of medical training. Residency is a time of tremendous growth, and our goal is to help you build the knowledge, confidence, and resilience needed for the next phase of your career. Whether you are pursuing anesthesiology, radiology, dermatology, neurology, ophthalmology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or another specialty, we are committed to helping you achieve your goals.
We take pride in training physicians who are clinically competent, compassionate, adaptable, and committed to lifelong learning. Most importantly, we believe in caring for our residents as people, not just trainees. We celebrate diversity, encourage curiosity, and value the unique perspectives each resident brings to our program.
Thank you for your interest in our Transitional Year Residency Program. We invite you to learn more about our curriculum, faculty, and community, and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome you to San Antonio Regional Hospital."
