High School Volunteer Program

If you are a high school student interested in a career in healthcare, the experience of volunteering at San Antonio Regional Hospital is invaluable. The Junior Volunteer Program allows the opportunity to interact with patients and healthcare staff, providing a rewarding way to learn firsthand how a large medical center operates. To be accepted into the program, you must be a high school student, at least 15 years of age, and beginning the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade for the 2025-2026 school year.

Applications will be accepted beginning on June 1, 2025. All applicants will be notified by July 31, 2025 whether they have been selected for an interview. Interviews will then take place August 1-15, 2025. Please note that there are a limited number of spots available, and we apologize in advance that we will not be able to accept all applicants.

New volunteers will be assigned a weekly shift based on their interests, schedule, and the availability of various hospital departments. Being accepted into the program also comes with the expectation that each Junior Volunteer will complete 100 hours of volunteer service during the 2025-2026 school year. Non-graduating Junior Volunteers who complete the 100 hours of service will automatically be allowed to return for the following school year.
